I've completely forgotten where I found this photograph (eek) but thought it appropriate for this gloomy Thursday... if only I could look this glamorous in the rainy streets of New York...Labels: photography |

the male brain
9.28.2010
|
A while ago, our friends over at Babyccino featured The Female Brain by Louann Brizendine. I ordered it immediately, read it quickly and was fascinated to learn why we act the way we do. The counterpart, The Male Brain, recently came out and I just finished reading it. It is so helpful for understanding baby boys, little boys, teenage boys, college boys, husbands, fathers, brothers... all of them! It looks big, but is actually pretty short- about half of the book is the reference section in the back, so don't let the size scare you. Check it out here.Labels: books |

Alexandrena Parker

Stunning. We discovered Alexandrena Parker's photography about two weeks ago and since then, her portfolio has become our go-to site whenever we need some 'oohs' and 'aahs' to perk us up (perfect for a Monday). She hails from Melbourne, and as a fellow Aussie I'm as proud as punch to show her off. You'll be seeing some of her work in cards featured on our site soon enough... Labels: photography |

Yum. As you all probably know by now, I'm a HUGE macaron lover. If you are ever close to the Time Warner Center, stop by Bouchon Bakery for a salad or a grilled cheese and soup and most definitely a dessert. You can eat at their cafe or you can just pick up something to go. Everything is so beautiful and delicious. Click here to visit their site. Labels: eating |

favourite fashion moments
9.20.2010
|
Last week was of course, New York fashion week. For months, the city prepped and primped itself for this week of weeks, which whizzed by in a blur of color, canapes, glitz and flashing lights. Now that the storm has passed, here a few of our catwalk crushes...

As a Brit living in the Big Apple I just had to go see Jason Bell's new series of photographs: An Englishman in New York" (at the National Portrait Gallery in London). I loved the little interviews accompanying the photographs describing each expat's New York story.... Read all about it!
And just in case London is a little too far away for you, the series has been turned into a book of the same name.Labels: art, books, photography |

Photographs of children always provide us with a good dose of comic relief. We are crazy about the photos in the book, Cicci Cocco, which capture children's playful and free spirits and make us laugh every time we look at them. We like the little captions accompanying each photo as well. We will be posting more photos this week of our favorites!

I wish I were a dancer for the NYC ballet... (and wish my body looked like that too) Those beautiful costumes, the music, the choreography, lighting design, stage sets... the list goes on. Here in New York City we are lucky to share our home with the graceful dancers of the New York City Ballet. Labels: nyc, photography |
