Last week was of course, New York fashion week. For months, the city prepped and primped itself for this week of weeks, which whizzed by in a blur of color, canapes, glitz and flashing lights. Now that the storm has passed, here a few of our catwalk crushes...

Outfits 1, 3 and 4 from the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection; Outfits 2 and 6 by Michael Kors; Outfit 5 by Ralph Lauren. Images via New York Magazine.

Tarallucci E Vino
9.10.2010

To indulge in an authentic Italian experience right here in New York, we head over to Tarallucci E Vino [which has three downtown locations]. A quick cappuccino and freshly baked croissant is always a delightful way to start the day.  We love the clean, minimal aesthetic and decor- modern style with Italian flair.  The european style pastry cases and italian food always encourage me to have a glass of wine when eating lunch there!

Crosby Street Hotel

The Crosby Street Hotel, designed by architect Paul Taylor and co-owner Kit Kemp, is a fabulous and sophisticated boutique hotel in SoHo. Right in the middle of all the action, but also set a little bit away from too much noise.  Boutique rates can be a little steep, but you can always taste the experience by having cocktails and nibbles at The Crosby Street Bar and Terrace!

NYC Ballet
9.08.2010

photos courtesy of the New York City Ballet fall catalog

I wish I were a dancer for the NYC ballet...  (and wish my body looked like that too)  Those beautiful costumes, the music, the choreography, lighting design, stage sets... the list goes on. Here in New York City we are lucky to share our home with the graceful dancers of the New York City Ballet.

The high life
6.15.2010

I love these paintings of The Mark Hotel by Frenchman-turned-New-Yorker Jean-Phillipe Delhomme: they perfectly capture that Upper East Side fabulousness that we all know and love. To see more, check out JP's portfolio here or his blog The Unknown Hipster, for a hit of high culture.

Pop Art
6.11.2010

The West Village's Popbar is the new place to be on a hot, sticky afternoon. They've put gelato on a stick, and will dunk it into an assortment of delicious liquids and toppings until you've got your own cold, yummy little piece of art. I love Summer.

A Conran kind of summer
6.06.2010

A few of my favourite things...

Today I visited the new Conran store on the lower level of ABC Carpet and Home and gosh it was fun! It's such a great space and so full of colour and gadgets and beautifully designed pieces. I spent ages just walking around and touching pretty things then left feeling summery and inspired.

Chocolate Masters
3.30.2010

The parents of Rick and Michael Mast must be very proud. Mast Brothers Chocolate ticks all the boxes: it's delicious, beautifully packaged, and handcrafted from the the finest, wholesome ingredients. These photographs (taken by one of my absolute favorite photographers, Todd Selby) show the brothers hard at work in their beautiful Brooklyn factory. With Easter around the corner, now's the perfect time to indulge (I recommend their dark chocolate with almonds and sea salt).

Hot Chocolate!!

I know I'm almost too late on this, but if you haven't been over to city bakery this month you have three days until their hot chocolate festival finishes. We've had great fun trying out their different flavours, my favourite was the 'Tropical hot chocolate' (imagine chocolate and fried bananas) but 'Ode to the polar bear' was a close second (imagine a melted bar of white chocolate..mmmm).... If you don't get there in the next few days, the regular hot chocolate is delicious (served in bowls with home-made marshmallows), or why not get inspired and make your own!
