Milly-Molly-Mandy
10.23.2009

Meet Milly-Molly-Mandy. She's a delightful young girl who lives in “a nice white cottage with a thatched roof” along with Father, Mother, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle and Aunty. I grew up (as my mother also did) hearing all about her adventures which include climbing trees, keeping house and going on picnics with Little-Friend-Susan.

I've scanned in some pages from my own copies of the books (printed in 1941), however if you're interested in sharing Joyce Lankester Brisley's adorable world with your own little ones, Amazon has 'The Big Milly-Molly-Mandy Storybook' available in a hardcover. Hooray!

Fred Bare
10.21.2009

Doesn't this photo shoot look so fun? I stumbled across Fred Bare, an adorable Australian clothing company the other day. I love love love the beautiful little children with their face paints and fabulous headdresses. You can check out their collection here. Unfortunately they don't have any outlets in the US yet - lets hope they move here soon!

Madeleine Patisserie
10.19.2009

Believe it or not, there is actually a patisserie in New York City whose macaroons rival those of Laduree and Pierre Herme!  Madeleine Patisserie.  I wasn't so sure of some of the flavors at first, but I would encourage you to try ONE OF EACH (might take a while) but they really are all very unique and delicious.  Among some of my favorites are lemon, pistachio, praline, candied ginger, apple caramel, rose, lavender nougat, white chocolate coconut, nougat, caramel fleur de sel and caramel fudge.

Never Abandon Ship by Eric Otto

October by Devon Kelley-Yurdin

Next time you find yourself in the West Village, be sure to drop into Charmingwall Gallery on West 4th (between 6th and 7th Ave). This gorgeous little space is home to a lovely variety of fine art prints from some very talented artists – a perfect solution to brighten up your child's bedroom (or your own). The best part? Unframed prints are only $20 each! Gotta love that...

Or, if the cooler weather is not agreeing with you, check out their website and online store.

Oliver Jeffers

If you have never read an Oliver Jeffers book then you're just missing out! I love his little stick legged characters and his delightfully whimsical stories. These beautiful illustrations are from his book: The Great Paper Caper.

One of the photographers we work with is the talented Davina Zagury. Her photographs of children are divine.  I also love her still life photographs of dolls and toys.

New York Art Book Fair
10.04.2009

On Friday we headed over to the Art book fair at P.S.1. There were thousands of wonderful books to browse through, but this was one of my particular favourites; Journal of Plants (from the Lines and Shapes stand). If you're in New York today, you can catch the last day of the fair, otherwise there's always next year.

Click here to go to the NY Art book fair site.
