my brother
7.30.2010
|
There is absolutely no reason for this post, except that it is one of my favorite pictures of my brother and me. He was so sweet to me when we were children- best big brother I could ask for. I also love that the woman in the white dress and the man in the khaki suit in the background are my parents! Pretty stylin, huh? |

Aren't these stickers fantastic? I'm not sure where they're from but we have put them up all around the studio and they always make me smile.
N.B I've just learned that Kirby picked these up in Paris and that they're actually Djeco stickers (thanks Courtney!) and can be purchased here.Labels: illustration |

peanut butter and co
7.27.2010
|
On Saturday, I met my friend, Katie, and her precious daughter, Katherine, at Peanut Butter and Co. on Sullivan Street in the village. It's a little lunch spot with all sorts of peanut butter specialties. Tiny and casual, the menu was filled with anything peanut butter- from the basic PB&J to a peanut butter and chocolate sunday and even a peanut butter panini with honey and bananas. All simply delicious! You have probably seen their products at Whole foods and other grocery stores. I think I'll try the White Chocolate Wonderful next. Click here to visit the Peanut Butter and Co. site. Labels: eating |

Christmas in July
7.26.2010
|
Believe it or not, we've been working on our 2010 holiday designs for a good two months now... it's very bizarre drawing snowflakes and wintery scenes when it's 100 degrees outside, but we've been having quite a lot of fun with it all and are very excited for the collection to launch later this year. Here's a little teaser...Labels: illustration, petite alma |

Flower fairies
7.22.2010
|
We were going through our books in the studio yesterday (we've got quite a lovely collection) and came across A World of Flower Fairies by the incredible Cicely Mary Barker. Suddenly, it was as if we'd all just been transported back to our childhoods- each of us had such fond memories of pouring through the pages and imagining the lives of these darling little creatures. And of course, we all had our favorites... here are some of them.Labels: art, books, illustration |

Our Photo shoot
7.19.2010
|
We recently had a fabulously fun photo shoot for our website (thanks Davina!) and wanted to share a few more pics that haven't made it up onto the site yet...
From the top: Our lovely studio stationery; Fun streamers; A cute studio scene; Our inspiration board; The Petite Alma ladies: Kat, Kirby and Erin (at the end of a very long three days of shooting, I might add)Labels: petite alma |

Our makeover!
7.14.2010
|
We've got a new look! It's been so busy here in the studio over the past few months that we decided to rework our website to show off our new direction and exciting projects. These days, you can expect a lot more from Petite Alma: as well as continuing with our stationery line, we're also branching into identity, print and product design, and we've got lots of fun stuff up our sleeve. Check out our Portfolio to see our latest studio projects and stationery design, and be sure to check back in to our e-boutique when it launches this fall. We're very excited and of course would love to hear your feedback! Enjoy!Labels: petite alma |

Andy and nature: Hand in Hand
7.13.2010
|
Andy Goldsworthy is known for waking before the crack of dawn to assemble icicles into beautiful spiralled sculptures that melt as the sun rises. Luckily for us he is a fastidious documenter of his work and he does create some more permanent works of art, such as this rather wonderful weaving wall that you can see at the Storm King Sculpture park (that's a whole other blog post!). If you do fall in love with his work as much as I have, I urge you to watch Rivers and Tides, a fascinating film that documents Andy's creative process and gives you a greater insight into his aesthetic philosophies - something I don't have anywhere near enough space to go into here!Labels: art, photography |
