Arthur Elgort does such a wonderful job of capturing moments of these young dancers. The last one is my favorite. She just looks so sweet and innocent and has no idea of what a beautiful young woman she is becoming! Visit his amazing website here.

I was quite taken aback with these beautiful photographs by Gemma Booth. She creates beautiful dream-like worlds that you just want to lose yourself in... worlds where the girls are lovely and mysterious and definitely hiding something. Labels: photography |

The Gumnut babies at the Hat Shop
Since I am the only Aussie in the Petite Alma studio, I often feel a bit self indulgent highlighting design or talent from down under... but not today! Happy Australia Day everybody! To celebrate, I've included illustrations from one of the most loved children's book in Oz: The Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie. These Gumnut babies live in Eucalyptus trees and have all sorts of adventures with their bushland friends while avoiding the evil Banksia men. These original illustrations by May Gibbs are just fantastic.

Ready... set... eat!

NYC Winter Restaurant Week begins today! Woohoo! There are a bunch of great restaurants participating this year, but my absolute favorite would have to be Mario Batali's West Village gem: Lupa. It's fabulous... and is offering a weekday lunch pre fixe menu for under $25. Okay... five hours until lunch... I think I can make it.Labels: eating |

We have a whole bunch of cute and lovely cards on our site now but I especially wanted to share these little fellas with you; they're racing around the world to spread the love. Check out our kids cards and our photo cards here!

Ok, so I love the look of silver - so elegant, so refined. I, however, do not love caring for it. I do not have the time or the patience to sit around polishing it every time it looses it's luster. Nor do I have a cleaning staff to do it for me. But, don't worry, there is a solution... pewter!
Pewter looks just like the old Hotel Silver that is so popular right now. If you use and wash your silver (a lot) it will begin to look like pewter- worn and loved. The pewter line by MATCH is phenomenal. The serving pieces are to die for- I want all of them (and a big house to use them in!) To view all of their lovely pieces, go to the MATCH website here.

I just had to tell you about my lunch today. I had Panzamella salad with vine ripe tomato, garlic basil and balsamic reduction croutons and for desert the most adorable upsidedown flourless chocolate cake topped with whipped cream and a blackberry, all from 'Spoon' my most favourite little lunch spot! Delicious! They do great coffee too.Labels: eating |

Last night I had a lovely time at Friend of a Farmer, a sweet little restaurant on Irving Place. It was so cosy sitting drinking red wine in front of a crackling fire chatting away for hours. We also nibbled on a lovely green salad with red pepper dressing and some sumptuous maple carrot mashed potato. I shall most definitely be returning for dinner!

JARS

I discovered the most wonderful french ceramic company over the holidays. Jars. Their pieces are so simple and well made. They are basic, everyday pieces, but still very elegant. I actually think they would look nice on the dinner table mixed with old silver and a nice big bouquet of flowers. You can purchase them at Longoria Collection in Houston. I'll do a post of that store later...

Good morning all! If you haven't yet had your first coffee of the day, then apologies for this post, but I just had to share this cool site I stumbled across. Art in My Coffee is a "collection of foamy awesomeness" from around the world and is really quite beautiful. I love that people have taken the time to capture these delicious little artworks so that we can all enjoy them.Labels: art, photography |

You can't help but smile when you see people having so much fun... these pics are from creative photography duo Our Labor of Love. There are some really exceptionally beautiful photos on their blog, but my favorites are these ' Smilebooth' ones – the props and decorations are so much fun! It makes me want to live the silly season all over again... Labels: photography |

Try your hand at pavlova's... a delicious Aussie dessert
My mother always used to tell me that if you can read, you can cook. I never really believed her, as I have been able to read for many years now and still am not any closer to achieving chef-dom. I was recently inspired to learn, however, by an Australian recipe blog called Trotski & Ash. The photographs are really beautiful, the recipes are easy to follow, and each one comes with a lovely backstory that will make you feel both hungry and nostalgic. Wish me luck! Oh, and Happy New Year! Labels: eating, hobbies |
